2023 Future Stars
2023 Future Stars Events completed. Dates: June 2-4, 2023.
Eufaula, Alabama : June 4, 2023....The 15U East Generals (3-0) from the West Georgia league captured the title as the 15U Future Stars Wood Bat Champions. The team knocked off the West Georgia 15U team, Eufaula & Geneva to go undefeated in the tournament. The final win by the 15U East team was a thrilling 4-3 victory over Geneva in extra innings. The 15U West team won the silver medal. Congratulations to all teams in the 15U division.
In 17U play, the teams were evenly matched with all three teams notching a win against one loss in pool play. With the tiebreaker, the 17U West Georgia Generals claimed a spot in the championship game. The Dothan Expos and the Alabama Wood Ducks played in the semi-final game with the Dothan Expos winning the tilt 5-0. With the win, the Dothan Expos advanced to the championship game on Sunday, June 4, 2023. In the championship game, the 17U West Georgia Generals defeated the Dothan Expos 8-0.
J. Sandy Jones, Commissioner/CEO stated: “ The 2023 Future Stars Event, with the wood-bat format, allowed young people to enjoy the game of baseball. The City of Eufaula Parks and Recreation Department under the leadership of Keef Pettis proved to be an excellent host. Jerry Brewer, DBB CFO and Future Stars Tournament Director, has been involved with the event since its inception. Mr. Brewer, Billy Herrin (Assistant Tournament Director) and Jerry McGlone, Tournament UIC were also involved with the administration of the tournament. Old Hickory Bat Company and BSN Sports served as co-sponsors of the 16th Future Stars Events. We thank everyone who participated in the event either as a player, coach, umpire or as a member of the tournament staff.”
